Shanina Shaik: A Comprehensive Introduction

Early Life and Background

Shanina Shaik was born on February 11, 1991, in Melbourne, Australia. She is of diverse heritage, with her mother, Kim, being of Lithuanian descent, and her father, Hanif, having Pakistani and Saudi Arabian roots. Shaik began her modeling career at the tender age of eight, working with brands like Myer and appearing in a Hyundai commercial. She paused her early modeling pursuits to focus on academics, enrolling in an accelerated program that allowed her to graduate high school a year early. 

Modeling Career

Shaik's modeling career gained momentum when she participated in the Australian reality show "Make Me a Supermodel" in 2008, where she finished as the runner-up. This exposure led to her signing with New York Model Management. She made her international runway debut during the Autumn/Winter 2009 season in New York, walking for designers such as Yeohlee, Shipley & Halmos, and Mara Hoffman. 

In 2011, Shaik's career reached new heights when she walked in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, becoming the sixth Australian model to do so. She continued to walk for Victoria's Secret in subsequent years and also appeared in campaigns for brands like Intimissimi and RMK. Her runway repertoire expanded to include shows for Jason Wu, Tom Ford, Oscar de la Renta, and Stella McCartney. 

Shaik has graced the covers of various international magazines, including Vogue India, Harper's Bazaar Singapore, and Maxim. She also became an ambassador for Australian swimwear brand Seafolly in 2016.

Personal Life

Shaik was engaged to DJ Ruckus (Gregory Andrews) in December 2015, and they married in the Bahamas in April 2018. The couple separated in June 2019, and Shaik filed for divorce the following month. ​

In 2020, Shaik began a relationship with advertising agent Matthew Adesuyan. The couple welcomed their first child, a son named Zai Adesuyan, on September 19, 2022. ​

Lifestyle and Interests

Shaik maintains a healthy lifestyle, adhering to an ovo-pescetarian diet that emphasizes plant-based foods. She avoids soft drinks and fruit juices, focusing instead on whole foods. Her fitness regimen includes Pilates, yoga, and running, which she incorporates into her travel schedule. ​

Beyond modeling, Shaik has ventured into acting, appearing in films such as "The Mummy" (2017) and "Greed" (2019). She also featured in the E! docu-series "Model Squad," providing insights into the lives of models. 

Shaik is known for her philanthropic efforts, supporting various charitable causes and organizations, such as children's hospitals and environmental initiatives.
